Matthews, Mason Compete at Q School

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior All-American Brandon Matthews and Andrew Mason, a 2011 graduate and all-conference performer, are competing in the PGA Tour's Q-School this week.
Matthews, who is playing at the Callaway Gardens-Mountain View Golf Course in Pine Mountain Ga., shot an even par 72 on the first of four days of competition. The only amateur in the field, the DuPont, Pa. native was tied for 44th among the 77 competitors.
Mason, who has played on the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, shot a six-under 66 at the ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Neb. to tie for second after the first of four days.
The 24 players with lowest scores at each site, and players tied for the last position, will advance to the next stage of qualifying.
