Matthews Fires Six Under on Day Three of Q School

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior All-American Brandon Matthews had his best round of the four-day PGA Tour Q-School, firing a six-under 66 to tie for 14th overall going into the final round Friday. Andrew Mason, a 2011 graduate and all-conference performer, had his worst round, carding a two-over 74 and its tied for 15th at seven-under.
Matthews, the only amateur among 77 golfers at his site, is playing at the Callaway Gardens-Mountain View Golf Course in Pine Mountain Ga., shot a two-under 70 par for his second round.
Mason, who has competed on the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, is playing the ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Neb.
The 24 players with lowest scores at each site, and players tied for the last position, will advance to the next stage of qualifying.
