Phil Steele Honors Three Owls On All-America Team

PHILADELPHIA - Phil Steele has released his Postseason All-American and All-Conference Teams. Phil Steele's College Football Preview is one of the nation's most informative preseason football magazines and has always released Preseason and Postseason All-American teams as well as All-Conference teams.
This season's All-America teams boast three Temple Owls: Senior LB Tyler Matakevich earned first-team honors, senior DT Matt Ioannidis garnered third-team recognition, and junior OL Dion Dawkins was a fourth-team member.
Matakevich and Ioannidis were the highest finishers at their respective positions among non-power 5 student-athletes. Among the 20 offensive linemen honored, Dawkins was joined by just one other non-power 5 member.
All three also earned first-team All-American Athletic Conference recognition by Phil Steele. They were joined by senior OL Kyle Friend, junior RB Jahad Thomas, and senior DB Alex Wells. Sophomore DB Sean Chandler, and redshirt-seniors OL Eric Lofton and DL Nate D. Smith earned second-team honors. Redshirt-senior WR Robby Anderson, sophomore K Austin Jones, and redshirt-junior DL Haason Reddick represented the Owls on the third-team.
