Women's Gymnastics Concludes Preseason with Second Intrasquad

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics wrapped up its preseason training with its second intrasquad meet Tuesday afternoon. The Owls were dressed in full uniform and competed with full lineups and judging in order to simulate their first official competition. The team ended the day with a total score of 190.3.
The uneven bars led the way for the Owls. The lineup that included India Anderson, Michaela Lapent, Reagan Oliveri, Briana Odom, Sahara Gipson and Kerry Arone totaled an event score of 47.9. Arone led the Owls on bars, posting a 9.8 for her performance. Her score was also the highest of all four events from the day.
With a total event score of 47.8, the vault team showed their consistency and scoring potential. Sophomore Sahara Gipson led the event with a 9.675 and was closely followed by Arone and Anderson, who both posted a 9.6.
Floor tallied a total event score of 47.425 with junior captain Briana Odom leading the lineup with a 9.7. Anderson put on a strong floor performance as well, posting a 9.625.
Beam rounded out the four events with a total score of 47.175. Sophomore Gianna Gambuti posted the highest score for the Owls with a 9.675.
The Owls had four all-around performers in the mock meet. Arone, Anderson, Gipson, and Odom competed in all four events with Arone leading the group with her mark of 38.35.
With their first competition set for Jan. 3, The Owls look to make a strong start for the 2016 season at Central Michigan University.
