Men's Tennis Sweeps Murray State, 7-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a hard loss to Memphis on Friday, the men's tennis team came out in full force to beat Murray State, 7-0.
Head coach Steve Mauro was extremely pleased with the way that the team came out and played, especially on the road.
"Was really happy with the way the guys bounced back after losing against a tough Memphis team. The guys came out and fought hard today and were really pumped up for this match," said Mauro. "Playing on the road is always tough but the guys really did a great job and performed well in singles and doubles."
The Owls started play off well in doubles, with Hicham Belkssir and Nicolas Paulus shutting out Max McClean and David Hess, 6-0 at the first flight. Ian Glessing and Maros Januvka locked up the point for the Owls at the third flight, defeating Anjan Kashyab and Aleks Mitric.
As the team moved into singles play, they came out swinging, finishing will straight-set victories across the board. Filip Stipcic was first to pick up his win, defeating Mitric, 6-2, 6-1 at the third flight. Santiago Canete followed next, taking the first flight in a 6-2, 6-2 win over McClean, while Glessing picked up his second victory at the sixth flight, defeating Kashyab 6-0, 6-1. Paulus, Belkssir, and Vineet Naran all picked up wins at their flights to complete the sweep.
The Owls (6-5) will travel to Greenville, N.C. on March 4 to face American Athletic Conference member East Carolina.
