Women's Basketball Hosts Memphis in Wednesday Matinee

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team plays host to Memphis in a noon match-up on Wednesday. The Owls will face the Tigers in a school day match-up that will bring elementary school children from the area to the Liacouras Center. The American Digital Network will broadcast the game, and fans can watch the game online at theamerican.org/watch/ or on a TV by installing the American Digital Network App on any Roku system.Â
Temple enters Wednesday's game with a 10-12 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the American Athletic Conference. After winning three in a row, the Owls had their streak stopped by No. 2/2 UConn, 83-49, at home on Sunday. Against UConn, freshman Alliya Butts led the Owls with 12 points, while junior Erica Covile notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, also adding three steals. Covile's double-double was her second in two games against UConn this season, the only two the Huskies have given up in 21 games this season. Temple spreads its offensive output, as five players are averaging above 9.6 points per game. Fitzgerald leads the way with 12.0 points per game, while dishing out 2.6 assists per contest, with Butts chipping in 11.3 points and a team-high 2.1 steals per game. Covile averages 11.2 points and a team-best 9.3 boards per game, while freshman Tanaya Atkinson is fourth on Temple in scoring (10.5 ppg) and second in rebounding (6.8 rpg).
