Women's Gymnastics Sets Season High Team Score in Dual Meet at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics set a season high team score of 192.15 in a dual meet at Penn, but were edged out by the Quakers on Saturday afternoon. Penn won the meet with a team score of 192.475.
The Owls started the meet on vault and earned a team score of 47.925 on the event. All six gymnasts competing on the event scored above a 9.5. Briana Odom had the top score of 9.625. Jasmine Johnson and Mikaela Postlethwait were right behind her with a 9.6. Lauren Capone and Victoria Reggiani both garnered a score of 9.55.
Temple earned a team score of 48.15 on the bars, tying with beam for its best event score of the meet. Kerry Arone's routine earned the best score for Temple on the event with a 9.85. Michaela Lapent had the second best score for the Owls with a 9.675. Reggiani garnered a 9.6, and Postlethwait got a 9.575. Hannah Popper also scored above a 9.5 with her score of 9.525.
Alexis Arena had the top score of both teams on beam with a 9.85. Lauren Capone earned a 9.65, and Postlethwait and Lapent both got a 9.6.
The Owls finished the meet on floor where they got a team score of 47.95. Capone and Stephanie Verry had the top score for squads on the event with a 9.8. Alexandra Forcucci's routine earned her a 9.725. Lapent also garnered a score of 9.625.
Temple will host the Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational next Saturday at 1:00 p.m., honoring the former coach of the team. West Chester and Penn will all be participants at the meet.
