Matthews Cards 69 on Day Two of Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior Brandon Matthews carded a one-under 69 on the second day of competition at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate and moved up to fifth overall among the 160 golfers on Monday. The Owls moved up two places to 27th overall out of 30 teams at the tournament held at Kingsmill Resort's River Course.
Matthews (73-69, 142) was the only Owl who fared well, however, while senior Matt Teesdale (79) was the only other Temple player to finish below 80 on the day. Teesdale (82-79, 161) is tied for 136th overall with senior Patrick Ross (79-83, 162) one stroke back and tied for 139th. Freshmen Mark Farley (80-85, 165) and Evan Thornton (80-86, 166) rounded out the squad.
Maryland and Loyola-Maryland tied for the team lead with 573 scores while Old Dominion's Jamison Randall (68-71) was atop the individual leaderboard with one-under 131.
Play concludes Tuesday at the 6,765-yard, par-70 River Course, which serves as the longtime home of the Michelob Open on the PGA tour, the Michelob Ultra Open on the LPGA tour, and currently home to the LPGA Kingsmill Championship.
