HAMPTON, Va. – The women's tennis team bounced back from their 4-1 loss to East Carolina by taking down Hampton, 6-1.

Doubles was a sweep for the Owls, as Minami Okajima and Mariana Bedon took the third flight on an 8-0 shutout against Daneya Charles and Melanie Scott. Rebecca Breland and Dina Karina clinched the point in an 8-1 win at the second flight over Miarian Mitaishvili and Anastaiia Romanova.

Singles was all Temple, as they only dropped one set to the Pirates. Anais Nussaume made the score 2-0 for Temple, taking down Scott at the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-0. Karina was defeated at the third flight by Mikaela Pierce, 6-3, 1-0 in a retired set to give Hampton their only point of the match. Freshman Alina Abdurakhimova moved to 11-5 on the season at the first flight, taking down Danielle Dixon, 6-1, 6-2, and Yana Khon wrapped up the victory for the Owls at the second flight after a 7-6(4), 6-2 victory over Mitaishvili.

The Owls (10-4, 0-2 The American) will return home to Philadelphia on March 7 to take on Akron at 6 p.m. at Upper Dublin Sports Center.
