Brandon Matthews Named American Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week

PHILADELPHIA -Â Temple junior Brandon Matthews has been named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 5. Â It marks the second honor he has won from the conference this season as he previously was named Golfer of the Month for the month of October.Â
The DuPont, Pa. native won his second straight individual title and helped lead the Owls to their second win of the season at the Met Intercollegiate held April 4 in Purchase, N.Y. Â Matthews battled both a strong field and tough weather conditions to post a 36-hole total of 147. Â His three-stroke victory was third tournament title of the year and seventh as a collegiate player.

Matthews is currently ranked 39th by Golfstat.com which is the highest ranked golfer in the conference. Â His stroke per round average is a 71.0

Temple will be back in action this weekend at the Princeton Invitational. Â The Tournament will be held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa. (Saturday) and Merion Golf Club's East Course in Ardmore, Pa. (Sunday).Â
