Football Holds First Scrimmage of Spring

PHILADELPHIA -- The Owls practiced today, wrapping up their eighth of 15 spring sessions.
Following position drills in the early part of the day, the team competed in its first scrimmage. Senior running back Jamie Gilmore took a screen pass 40 yards for a score on first series. However, the defense held the advantage for most of the remaining part of the scrimmage.
The competition didn't end there as the kickers were challenged to connect on 40+ yard field goals to keep the rest of the team from running sprints. Austin Jones was 2-2 and Jim Cooper was 1-2 (Tyler Mayes was attending class).
The next practice will take place on Saturday, April 11. The annual Cherry & White Game will kickoff at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, on Chodoff Field at Edberg Olson Hall.
