2014 (Sophomore): Battled kickers Austin Jones and Tyler Mayes for the place kicking duties during summer camp ... while those chores went to Jones, Cooper still kicked off.
2013 (Freshman): Won the kicking battle during training camp to replace Brandon McManus, Temple’s all-time leading scorer ... the true freshman struggled early and was replaced by another true freshman, Nick Visco in game 3 ... continued with kickoff chores for remainder of season... one of three true freshmen (Jarred Alwan, Jihaad Pretlow) to play in every game.
High School: Played for coach Robert Coffey at Mainland Regional HS but kicking coach was his father, Jim Sr. … three-star prospect by Rivals.com … participated in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Personal: Born James Scott Cooper, Jr. on 10/19/94 … parents are Marie and James Cooper, Sr. … father was also a kicker at Temple (1983-86) under head coach Bruce Arians ... kinesiology major.
