PHILADELPHIA – Several members of the Temple football team enjoyed a sunny day with the children of Widener Memorial School in North Philadelphia as they celebrated Widener Day.

Widener Memorial School was founded in 1902 by Peter Widener as a school for the physically challenged and students with learning disabilities. It is a public school in the Philadelphia School District and serves grades K-12, but students are able to stay until they are 21.

Today's participants were: Shahbaz Ahmed, Rob Dvoracek, Rob Heyen, Khiry Lucas, Stephaun Marshall, Tyler Matakevich, Nate L. Smith, and P.J. Walker.

The players interacted with the students by playing games, instructing them through various activities, and even took their talents to the basketball court to play with some of the children. Temple's mascot Hooter joined the Owls' football players and students were also visited by Swoop and the Eagles cheerleaders, as well as members of the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments.
