PHILADELPHIA - Tara Evans, who has served as a Senior Advisor for the past year in the Nancy and Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, has now been promoted to Associate Director.

"After working in the student-athlete services industry for over a decade, Tara has a stellar reputation as a committed professional with passion for student-athlete success," said Senior Director Justin Miller. "I could not be more enthusiastic for her to assume this new role as Associate Director where her wealth of knowledge and vision will assist in our department's continued growth in the years to come."

Since beginning her tenure with the Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, Evans' teams have experienced record-high academic performances. The highlights of those include program-high grade-point averages of 3.57 for both the field hockey and women's soccer programs in the spring of 2015. Additionally, Evans provides leadership for the Resnick Center's Academic Mentoring program that had a direct impact on student-athletes earning a departmental GPA of 3.2 in the spring term.

"I have been passionate about working with student-athletes since 2003," said Evans, "when I started my career in student-athlete academic support as an intern at the University of Massachusetts. I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue the Resnick Center's tradition of providing outstanding academic support services for Temple University student-athletes."

Prior to August of 2014, Evans served as the Counselor Coordinator at Temple's Russell Conwell Learning Center.

Evans was a student-athlete at Syracuse University where she earned her bachelor's degree in sociology while competing on Syracuse's swimming and diving team. Following her time in upstate New York, Evans earned her master's from Springfield College in counseling and psychological services, with a specialization in athletic counseling.

Joining the Resnick Center team marked her return to working with student-athletes after having served worked in similar capacities at Villanova University and Florida Atlantic University.

During her career as an athletics advisor, Evans has worked with numerous different teams and coordinated various support services, culminated by her being named the Associate Director at FAU while working with the men and women's basketball and football programs.

Evans has two daughters, Morgan and Taylor.
