Temple Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer Eleanor Morgan Davis

PHILADELPHIA -- Eleanor Morgan Davis, a member of the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame, passed away last week at the age of 91.
A three-sport varsity athlete at Temple from 1942-45, Davis was a member of the field hockey team which tallied a 11-4-2 record from 1942-44. She was also a member of the 1943-45 women's basketball teams, which recorded the longest undefeated streak in Temple history with 27 straight wins. She received a white Temple blazer in 1945 and was president of the Crown & Shield honorary in 1945. Davis was also a member of the Astron and Delta Psi Kappa honoraries and was selected to Philadelphia II field hockey team for 1946-47. Â
Born in Abington, Pa. and raised in Ambler, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Johnson) Morgan. She was the wife of the late John Davis for 66 years. Surviving is her daughter, Gwendolyn Chandler of Dresher; grandchildren, Milford, Andrew, Steven and Michael; step grandchildren, Mark and Matthew; great grandson, Jacob; step great grandchildren, Jacqueline and Josceline; sister, Nancy Ewing. She was predeceased by a son, Tom and sisters, Jane Bruckel and Betty Tuburan.
Services will be held Friday July 31st at 11:00 AM at Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown. A calling will precede the service from 10:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
