Alex Cagle Earns Weekly Conference Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple men's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Alex Cagle was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the American Athletic Conference following the Owls' opening weekend.
Cagle started in both matches this weekend tallying a total of five saves throughout his 216 total minutes of play. Cagle earned his first career win and shutout in Friday's match against Manhattan, where he made three vital saves to preserve the Owls' 1-0 victory.
During Sunday's match against the Northeastern Huskies, Cagle was able to tab two more saves and hold the Huskies to only one goal through a full 110 minutes of play.
Junior Jorge Gomez Sanchez also received conference honors, getting named to the weekly honor roll after knocking in the game-winning goal in the 107th minute to help the Owls to a 1-0 victory over Manhattan on Friday. His debut weekend success continued on Sunday as he recorded an assist to Jordan Wix-Rauch to tie the game against Northeastern 1-1.
