Fred Turoff Inducted into World Acrobatics Society’s Hall of Fame/Gallery of Legends

PHILADELPHIA - Fred Turoff, Temple's men's gymnastics head coach for the past 40 years, was inducted into the World Acrobatics Society's Hall of Fame/Gallery of Legends on September 9 at a ceremony in Las Vegas. Other inductees included Olympic Champions Paul Hamm and members of the 1996 women's gymnastics team, plus Olympic diving medalists Scott Donie and Mary Ellen Clarke among other acrobatic artists.
Turoff has previously been inducted into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Although the varsity men's gymnastics program at Temple was discontinued in 2014, he continues to coach the elite club team sponsored by Temple's Campus Recreation department.
In addition, Turoff directs Philadelphia Boys' Gymnastics, a program offering local youth training and competition in the USA Jr Olympics program, plus he continues to teach as an adjunct faculty member in Temple's Kinesiology department. Besides being a top gymnast for Temple in his undergraduate days, Turoff competed internationally for the US team, has both coached and judged gymnastics nationally and internationally, and has authored a book and numerous articles on gymnastics.
