PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After another 2-0 weekend and a fifth consecutive win for #23 Temple men's soccer, Jorge Gomez Sanchez and Carlos Moros Gracia have each earned weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference. Gomez Sanchez has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row and Moros Gracia earns his second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Gomez Sanchez tabbed four goals in the Owls' past two matches, bumping his season goal total up to 10 which is now tied for the program's most goals since 2003. Gomez Sanchez knocked in a game-winner against Villanova and a hat trick in the match against Penn, and now boasts 22 total points in his first season with the Owls. In addition, Gomez Sanchez has been named the Soccer Six Player of the Week for a second consecutive week and was named a member of the weekly National Team by College Soccer News.
Moros Gracia recorded his first career goal during the Owls' 2-1 victory over Villanova to put Temple up 1-0 after nearly 70 minutes of scoreless play. His strong defensive efforts helped the Owls to a 3-0 victory over Penn, where the Quakers managed only three total shots in the match.
Also earning weekly recognition is goalkeeper Alex Cagle, who earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after making seven crucial saves in the Owls' match against Villanova.
