ORLANDO, Fla. – The Temple women's soccer team lost its first American Athletic Conference contest of the season on Thursday as they fell to UCF, 1-0. The Owls move to 8-3-0 (0-1-0 American Athletic Conference) on the season.

It took the Knights almost the whole first half to find the net, when Kayla Adamek was able to get a touch on the ball after a misclear from a Temple defender in the 43^rd minute of the game.

The Owls only had one shot on goal all night, courtesy of senior Erin Lafferty in the 63^rd minute of the game, while freshman Jordan Nash was able to record six saves in the net.

Even though the team suffered a lost, head coach Seamus O'Connor was still pleased with the effort that his team put out against the reigning regular season conference champions.

"I think the girls played a great game tonight. We took a defensive approach in the first half, let UCF have the ball and we were looking to catch them on the counter attack. They scored a quality goal before the end of the first half, but I'm proud of Jordan and the defenders," said O'Connor. "In the second half, we came out in a more attacking formation and had UCF pinned back for most of the game. We created a couple of half chance but nothing solid. It was a very good 90 minutes and hopefully we'll recover tomorrow and respond on Sunday."

The Owls will be back in action as they travel across the state of Florida to Tampa to take on #24 USF in a Sunday afternoon matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
