Alex Cagle and Carlos Moros Gracia Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second week in a row, sophomore Alex Cagle was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the American Athletic Conference. Junior Carlos Moros Gracia joined Cagle on the American weekly awards, being named the Defensive Player of the Week.
The Owls are coming off a 2-0 shutout over #25 Penn State where both Cagle and Moros Gracia headed up a defense that allowed only five shots from the Nittany Lions' offense. Moros Gracia also tabbed his first career assist during the match, taking a shot that rebounded to the feet of Justin Stoddart who knocked in the Owls' first goal of the game.
Friday's win marked Cagle's second shutout through three matches. Cagle now boasts a 0.29 goals against average, making him the only goalkeeper within the Soccer Six to hold a goals against average under 1.00.
Freshman Hermann Doerner and junior Justin Stoddart were also recognized by the American Athletic Conference this week, each earning a spot on the weekly Honor Roll. Stoddart earned his first career goal with the Owls in their match on Friday. Doerner, who has started in all three of the Owls' opening matches as a freshman, has recorded seven shots with four on goal this season.
In addition to earning American Weekly honors, Cagle was named the Philadelphia Soccer Six of the Week in their first weekly release.
