Butts Earns American, Big 5 Honor Roll Selections

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple sophomore Alliya Butts was named to both the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 weekly honor rolls for the period ending January 10. The guard led the Owls' women's basketball team to a 2-1 mark.
Butts averaged 18.7 points, 4.3 steals, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, scoring in double figures in each of Temple's games this week, while grabbing three or more steals in all three contests. At SMU, she tallied 22 points with career-highs of seven steals and two blocks. At home against Tulsa, Butts led the Owls with 10 points, also adding three steals and two assists in a win. Wrapping up the week, the guard tied a season-high with 24 points in a win against Cincinnati, also grabbing three steals and three rebounds.Â
Temple had a pair of road games this week, beginning with UCF on Wednesday before heading to UConn for a Saturday clash with the No. 1 Huskies.
