Butts Earns American and Big 5 Weekly Honor Roll Nods

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Temple sophomore Alliya Butts was named to both the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 weekly honor rolls for the period ending Januay 3.
Butts averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 steals, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists as Temple went 2-0 to open play in The American. The guard shot 53.6% (15-28) from the field for the week, including 44.4% (4-9) from long range. Against Memphis, Butts led the Owls with 21 points, also adding four assists and four steals in an 82-58 victory. On Saturday, she scored 20 points, adding five steals and four boards, as Temple topped Houston, 75-66.
Temple is back in action on Tuesday, playing at SMU at 8:00 p.m. (ET). The 8-4 Owls are looking for their sixth-straight win and their third win to open play in The American.
