Women's Basketball Entertains Cincinnati on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA -- On just one day of rest, the Temple women's basketball team is in action on Sunday, hosting conference-rival Cincinnati on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The McGonigle Hall clash will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with Dave Leno and Debra Taylor on the call. 

The Owls
• Temple is 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the American. 
• Most recently, the Owls notched a 66-46 win over visiting Tulsa on Friday night at McGonigle Hall. Temple used an 18-2 run spanning 13 minutes in the first half to put the game out of reach for the Hurricane.
• The win was the 150th career for head coach Tonya Cardoza. She is now 150-94 in her career.
• 10 different Owls found the scoring column, led by 10 points from sophomore Alliya Butts.
• Junior Feyonda Fitzgerald and sophomore Donnaizha Fountain each added nine points, while sophomore Tanaya Atkinson had eight points and eight rebounds.
• Graduate student Ugo Nwaigwe again hit career highs with eight points, nine rebounds, and five blocks, while Ruth Sherrill also notched a season-best, scoring seven points. 
• For the year, Fitzgerald leads Temple with 15.7 points and 5.4 assists per game. Butts is second on the team, averaging 15.4 points a game, and has racked up a team-best 37 steals.
• Atkinson averages 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest, while Covile (9.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg) and Fountain (9.1 ppg ppg, 6.4 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor. 
• Temple averages 71.5 points per outing, shooting 41.9% from the field. The Owls shoot 32.4% from three and 69.0% from the charity stripe. 

The Bearcats
• Cincinnati is 5-9 overall with a 2-1 record in American Athletic Conference play.  
• Last time out, the Bearcats fell 64-47 at Memphis.
• Ana Owens notched 19 points and seven boards, while Jasmine Whitfield had nine points in the loss to the Tigers.
• Owens, an All-Freshman selection last season, leads the Bearcats on the season with 14.6 points and 3.3 assists per game.
• Whitfield averages 13.1 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds, while Alyesha Lovett averages 10.5 points a game.
• As a team, the Bearcats average 60.3 points per game, allowing 73.4 to opponents. 
• Cincinnati shoots 34.2% from the field, 29.1% from three, and 65.1% from the line.

Temple vs. Cincinnati
• Temple owns the all-time series against Cincinnati, 3-1, winning both match-ups last year. 
• Last time they met, Temple shot a blistering 64.7% in the second half to pull away from Cincinnati, 83-50 at McGonigle Hall. 
• Four players scored in double-figures for the Owls, led by Butts' 17 points and five assists, while Covile, Taylor Robinson, and Tanaya Atkinson all added 14-point games.
• Cincinnati's Owens finished with 13 points, just three in the second half, while Marley Hill had 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. 
• The Temple vs. Cincinnati match-up features a clash between close friends and head coaches, Tonya Cardoza and Jamelle Elliott. The pair worked together as UConn assistant coaches for nine years (1997-2008).
