Women's Cross Country Competes at 43rd Annual Paul Short Run

10.1.16 | Women's Cross Country

Bethlehem, Pa. - On Saturday morning, Temple women's cross country toed the starting line with 46 college teams at the Paul Short Invitational. The squad placed 31st overall among the field of participants.

Sophomore Katie Leisher was the top finisher for the Owls. Leisher placed just under the top 50 as she finished the Women's Gold 6K in 20:55 earning 54th.

"Katie did a good job of putting herself in the front of the line in the beginning," said head coach James Snyder. "She ran personal bests the first 3K of the race."

Freshmen Grace Moore and Millie Howard were Temple's second and third best at this year's Paul Short. Moore and Howard finished 11 seconds apart with times of 21:36 and 21:47 respectively.

"The women did an okay job today," stated Snyder. "Everyone across the board was running quicker than they did at the Rider Invitational two weeks ago, which is a good statement to our progress as a team."

The Owls will next compete at the Jack St. Clair Invitational on Oct. 8 at Belmont Plateau.
