Men's Tennis Fall Season Recap

PHILADELPHIA - Showcasing some young talent at four tournaments with deep fields, Temple men's tennis completed its fall season with many strong performances. Ovearll, the Owls posted records of 12-21 in singles matches and 5-4 in doubles.

Men's tennis team competed at the Joe Hunt Invitational, ITA All-American Championships, Farnsworth Invitational, and the ITA Regionals Championships.
Artem Kapshuk posted a singles record of 4-3 for the fall season. Kapshuk advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA All-American where he fell to Jefta Kecic from the University of North Florida. Artem also advanced to the Quarterfinals at the ITA Regional Championships where he ended his run against Michael Weindl from Old Dominion University
Uladzimir Dorash posted a singles record of 4-3 across the fall season. Dorash played in the round of 64 in the ITA Division One Regional Championships but did not advance.
In his first fall season, Florian Mayer posted a singles record of 3-3. One of Mayer's most notable wins came in the round of 256 at the ITA All-American Championships against Jacob Herndon from the University of Arkansas where he downed the Razorback 6-4, 6-2.
Eric Biscoveanu garnered his first win as a Temple Owl at the Joe Hunt Invitational in the consolation bracket against Venkatesh Ramkumar from the University of Delaware.
The doubles pair of Uladzimir Dorash/ Florian Mayer posted a record of 2-1. Both of their wins came in the consolation bracket at the Joe Hunt Invitational. Dorash and Mayer defeated the tandems of Guillermo Garcia/Victor Blanco from St. Bonaventure University and Venkatesh Ramkumar/Luis Marcano from the University of Delaware.
Vineet Naran and Filip Stipcic posted a big doubles win as a pair. Their victory was against the Monmouth University pairing of Alberto Guiffrida/ Richard Chen in the Quarterfinals at the Joe Hunt Invitational.
The tandem of Artem Kapshuk/Eric Biscoveanu posted a 1-1 doubles record for the fall season. Notably, the duo bested Blaise Casselbury/Laurenz Lankes from the University of Delaware at the Joe Hunt Invitational.
Men's tennis will open up their spring season on January 15, 2017 against Norfolk State in Norfolk, Va.
