Golf Tied for Sixth after Day One at Visit Stockton Pacific Invite

STOCKTON, CA - Redshirt sophomore John Barone and sophomore Trey Wren posted sub-par rounds to lead Temple Golf to a strong first day at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite Thursday.  The Owls are tied for sixth at the 13-team tournament is being held at the 6,516, par-71 Stockton Country Club.

Barone made four birdies, including his final two holes of the round, for a two-under 69.  That placed him tied for fifth among the 78 golfers in the field.  Wren also cracked the Top 10 with a one-under 70.  He matched Barone with four birdies, including his final hole.

Sophomore Sam Soeth started strong, making the turn with a two-under 34, but struggled on his back nine with a four bogeys and one double-bogey to tie for 49th with a four-over 75.  Redshirt freshman Erik Reisner was two shots better (73) and tied for 34th while junior Mark Farley rounded out the Owls' squad with a 77 to tie for 66th.

Sacramento State leads the field with a six-under 276 while BYU is in second at 282.  Temple is tied with three other teams (Grand Canyon, Pacific and CSU-North Ridge) with a three-over 287.
