Fitzgerald Shares Big 5 Player of the Week Honors

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple senior Feyonda Fitzgerald nabbed her second Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week nod of the season, sharing the honor with La Salle's Amy Griffin. The guard also earned weekly accolades from the American Athletic Conference.
Fitzgerald had another monster week, averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds as the Owls went 1-1 and clinched at least a share of the Big 5 title. The guard opened the week with a heroic effort at Hampton, scoring 29 points with five rebounds and three assists, as a fourth quarter rally fell just short. On Saturday, Fitzgerald scored 20 points with eight assists, as the Owls recorded their largest ever win over Villanova to clinch at least a share of the Big 5 title. Fitzgerald went to the line 14 times during the week, sinking 13 to shoot 92.9%Â
Temple women's basketball is back in action on Thursday, hosting nationally-ranked DePaul on ESPNU. The game tips off at 9:00 at McGonigle Hall.
