Butts Named American Athletic Conference & Big 5 Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Temple sophomore Alliya Butts was named both the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the period ending January 31. The guard led the Owls to a pair of road victories against American opponents. 

Butts powered Temple's offense to a pair of big wins, averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 steals, and 3.0 assists per game. At Tulane, who was receiving votes in the Top-25 poll, she led the Owls with 22 points, as Temple upset the Green Wave. On the road at ECU, Butts tallied 25 points, matching a career-high with seven steals. For the week, the guard shot 43.6% from the field and 42.9% from three, moving into ninth-place on Temple's career list with 123 total makes from long range.
