Women's Basketball Heads to Memphis for Thursday Showdown

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team heads to Memphis for a Thursday showdown with the Tigers at 8:00 p.m. ET. Temple (17-8, 11-3 American) will look to bounce back from a loss to No. 1 UConn on Sunday, while Memphis (15-10, 9-5) has won six out of their last seven games. The game is being broadcast live on the American Digital Network. 

The Owls
• Temple is 17-8 overall, 11-3 in The American.
• #1 UConn handed the Owls an 85-60 loss on Sunday, snapping a six-game win streak.
• Donnaizha Fountain led the Owls, notching 15 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, while Alliya Butts finished with 14 points. 
• Feyonda Fitzgerald had 10 points and a team-high four assists, while Tanaya Atkinson had nine points, six rebounds and four steals. Erica Covile ended with seven points, eight rebounds, and four steals. 
• For the year, Butts leads the Owls with 15.6 points per game, while grabbing 70 total steals. Fitzgerald is second with 13.0 points per game, averaging a team-high 5.1 assists per game. 
• Atkinson averages 12.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest, while Covile (9.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and Fountain (9.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor.

The Tigers
• Memphis is 15-10 overall and 9-5 in American Athletic Conference play. 
• The Tigers have won six out of their last seven games, including two in overtime.
• Last time out, it took a perfectly-executed free throw-miss play at the end of regulation and overtime, as Memphis posted a 79-78 win over ECU on Saturday.
• Ariel Hearn led the Tigers with 22 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and four steals, while Mooriah Rowser added 14 points, and Cheyenne Creighton grabbed 10 rebounds.
• For the year, Hearn leads Memphis with 14.3 points per game, 98 assists, and 61 steals, while Rowser averages 10.0 points a contest.
• Brianna Wright (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Asianna Fuqua-Bey (7.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg) also aid the Tigers.

Temple vs. Memphis
• Temple has won all five meetings between the teams, with all coming in The American regular season.
• Last time they met, the Owls jumped out to an 11-point lead and didn't look back, leading from buzzer to buzzer in an 82-58 win at McGonigle Hall.
• Four Owls scored in double-figures as Temple finished the game shooting 53.1% from the floor. Sophomore Alliya Butts ended her night with 21 points, four assists, and four steals, while classmate Tanaya Atkinson had 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore Donnaizha Fountain hit a career-high with 16 points, also adding five boards and a pair of steals in the win. 
• Moriah Rowser ended the night with 21 points for Memphis, while Briana Wright had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
