James Gledhill Hired as Men's Soccer Assistant Coach

PHILADELPHIA – Joining the Temple men's soccer staff with more than a dozen years of coaching experience, James Gledhill has been named the assistant coach under 16-year head coach David MacWilliams.
"I'm very excited about having James here," said Coach MacWilliams. "He's got a great personality that relates and interacts with players very well. It was evident when he first met the team, I saw everyone walk away with a great feeling and I believe he's going to do great for us."
A native of Huddersfield, England, Gledhill joins the Owls' staff following four years as the head coach at Holmes Community College in Goodman, Mississippi. During his tenure with the Lady Bulldogs, Gledhill led the team to a third-place finish in the MACJC North Division in his first year in 2012. In 2013, the team improved to a second-place finish under Gledhill's direction.
Prior to his years at Holmes, Gledhill spent three seasons as the assistant coach with the Mississippi College Choctaws.
In 2005, Gledhill played a professional season with the Wilmington Hammerheads in North Carolina, where he was a leading forward for the team.
In his college career, Gledhill spent three seasons at the University of Mobile where he became a two-time All-American and led the Rams to their first-ever National Championship as a senior in 2002. During the NAIA National Tournament that year, Gledhill was named the sole MVP out of a pool of players from 220 participating colleges. In his three seasons with the Rams, Gledhill was the top scorer for the team in two of those years.
In 2001, as a junior in college, Gledhill spent one year at Fairfield University. During his season with Stags, Gledhill set the school record for goals scored in a single season and led the conference in scoring, propelling the Stags to their highest ever NCAA ranking of #12 in the nation.
Gledhill returned to the University of Mobile for his senior season and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in communications in 2003.
Currently, Gledhill holds four coaching licenses that include a USSF A License, a UEFA B License, a NSCAA Premier Diploma, and a National Youth License.
"I think his knowledge of the game and experience playing at a high level will really help," said MacWilliams. "He also has a lot of contacts in the states and overseas so James is going to be a big player in our recruiting moving forward."
