Women's Basketball Hosts #19/17 USF on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will host nationally-ranked USF on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Liacouras Center. The Owls can move into sole posession of second place in The American with a win against the #19/17 Bulls. The action will air live on ESPN3 and following the game, Temple players will be on hand for autographs. 

The Owls
• Temple is 14-7 overall and 8-2 in the American.
• Last time out, Temple cruised to a 55-35 victory over visiting SMU on Wednesday at the Liacouras Center.
• The Owls allowed a season-low 35 points to the Mustangs, notching the 14th-straight win for Temple on its annual "School Day" game. 
• Sophomore Donnaizha Fountain led the Owls with 14 points, also adding seven rebounds and three steals, while senior Erica Covile had 13 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
• Junior Feyonda Fitzgerald had eight points and a pair of assists, while sophomore Alliya Butts had six points, five steals, and four assists. Rounding out the box score, sophomore Khadijah Berger had six points and seven rebounds. 
• For the year, Butts leads the Owls with 15.8 points per game, while grabbing 62 total steals. Fitzgerald is second with 13.8 points per game, averaging a team-high 5.1 assists per game. 
• Atkinson averages 11.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, while Covile (9.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Fountain (8.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor.
• As a team, Temple is averaging 69.2 points per game, holding opponents to 61.5 points an outing.

The Bulls
• USF is 16-5 overall, with a 9-2 mark in The American. The Bulls are ranked #17 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and #19 in the AP Poll. 
• All-American Courtney Williams leads a high-powered USF offense, with 21.9 points per game. She also averaged 9.4 rebounds per contest, with 60 total assists and 29 total steals.  
• Rookie Kitijia Laksa, the reigning American Freshman of the week, averages 13.6 points per game, and had connected on 43% of her attempts from long-range. Post player Alisia Jenkins (10.2 ppg, 11.5 rpg) is expected to miss the contest due to injury.
• Laura Ferreira and  Shalethia Stringfield round out the USF leaders, with Ferreira averaging 10.1 points per game and Stringfield contributing 9.1, helping the Bulls to average 75.2 points per outing. 
• Last time out, Williams reached the 2,000-point plateau with 28 points in USF's 82-49 win over Cincinnati. 

Temple vs. USF
• USF has won all five meetings between the programs, all coming since 2014.
