Women's Basketball Heads to Cincinnati for Tuesday Clash

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will look to make it five in a row, as the Owls (15-7, 9-2) head to Cincinnati (7-15, 3-8) on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The conference clash will be broadcast live by the American Digital Network.
The Owls
• Temple is 15-7 overall, 9-2 in The American, good for second place in the conference.
• Last time out, A put-back from senior Erica Covile with one second on the clock gave the Owls a 68-66 upset victory over #19/17 USF.
• Temple out-scored USF 24-14 in the fourth-quarter, rallying from an eight-point deficit to seal the win. The score was tied twice in the final minute of play, before Covile's put-pack sealed the victory.
• Covile finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, her fifth of the season. Tanaya Atkinson had a team-high 17 points, also adding six boards and three steals.Â
• Feyonda Fitzgerald finished with 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Alliya Butts had 12 points, four assists, and two steals. Rounding out the box, Donnaizha Fountain had nine points and nine rebounds.
• For the year, Butts leads the Owls with 15.6 points per game, while grabbing 64 total steals. Fitzgerald is second with 13.8 points per game, averaging a team-high 5.1 assists per game.Â
• Atkinson averages 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, while Covile (9.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg) and Fountain (8.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor.
• As a team, Temple is averaging 69.1 points per game, holding opponents to 61.7 points an outing.
The Bearcats
• Cincinnati is 7-15 overall, 3-8 in conference play.Â
• Three players score in double-figures for Cincinnati, led by Ana Owens' 13.5 points per game. Jasmine Whitfield adds 12.5 points and 5.7 boards an outing, while Alyesha Lovett chips in with 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.  Â
• The Bearcats shoot 33.2% from the field, and 28.5% from three, averaging 58.2 points per contest.Â
• Last time out, Cincinnati fell by three at Memphis, 54-51.Â
• The Bearcats led for nearly 27 minutes before faltering down the stretch. Lovett finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four steals, while Bianca Quisenberry added 11 points.Â
Temple vs. Cincinnati
• Temple owns the all-time series against Cincinnati, 4-1, including winning the earlier meeting this year.
• Last time they met, Temple allowed just 17 second half points to finish off Cincinnati, 74-51, on January 10.Â
• Butts led all players with 24 points and three steals for the Owls, while Tanaya Atkinson had 19 points and nine rebounds. Donnaizha Fountain notched her first career double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
• Lovett finished with 23 points to lead Cincinnati, but just three in the second half. Whitfield had six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
• The match-up features a clash between close friends and head coaches, Tonya Cardoza and Jamelle Elliott. The pair worked together as UConn assistant coaches for nine years (1997-2008).
