3.23.16 | Women's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will host Ohio on Thursday in the third round of the 2016 WNIT. The match-up tips off at 7:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall.

The Owls
• Temple carries a 22-11 overall record, earning a post-season spot for the second-straight year.
• The AQ out of the American Athletic Conference, Temple advanced to the third round  with a 64-62 win on the road at Quinnipiac on Sunday.
• Clinging to a one-point lead with under two minutes to play, Temple used a 6-2 run to gain some breathing room. That final surge made a QU three at the buzzer inconsequential, as the Owls survived and advanced.
Feyonda Fitzgerald finished with 23 points for game-high honors, also adding five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Tanaya Atkinson and Erica Covile each notched double-doubles, as Atkinson had 16 points and 11 boards, and Covile ended with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
• Four players average double-figures in scoring for the Owls, led by All-Conference guards in Butts (15.2 ppg, 2.9 apg, 2.4 spg) and Fitzgerald (13.5 ppg, 5.3 apg).
• Temple's other starting guards each average over nine points and six rebounds per game: Tanaya Atkinson (12.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg), Donnaizha Fountain (9.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Erica Covile (9.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg).
• As a team, Temple averages 69.8 points per outing, shooting 39.0% from the field, 29.3% from three, and 70.3% from the foul line.

The Bobcats
• Ohio enters the game with a 26-6 overall mark, finishing the regular season atop the MAC East Division.
• The Bobcats have won nine out of their last 11 games, opening the WNIT with wins over Marshall (76-68) and Virginia Tech (64-57).
• Against Virginia Tech, Quiera Lampkins led the Bobcats with 26 points on 10-of-17 from the field while adding nine rebounds. Jasmine Weatherspoon scored eight points and hauled in 11 boards.
• Kiyanna Black leads the nation with 126 total threes, averaging a team-best 18.4 points per game. Lampkins chips in with 14.1 ppg, while Baldwin adds 9.1 points and 5.7 boards per outing.
• Ohio shoots 39.9% from the field as a team and 31.1% from beyond-the-arc. The Bobcats average 72.3 points per game.

Temple vs. Ohio
• Temple leads the all-time series 2-0, with their last victory coming in 2010, a 65-43 win.
