Women's Basketball Faces Michigan in WNIT Quarterfinals

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team hits the road to play at Michigan on Monday in the WNIT Quarterfinals. The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. at the Crisler Center, and the Owls will provide a free audio stream to go along with the Wolverine's video stream. 

The Owls
• Temple carries a 23-11 overall record, earning a post-season spot for the second-straight year.
• The AQ out of the American Athletic Conference, Temple advanced to the third round with a 75-61 win at home against Ohio on Thursday night. 
• Against Ohio, Temple led for over 37 minutes, as the Owls faced just a 3-2 deficit before grabbing a lead they held. 
• Temple held the nation's leading three-point shooter -- Kiyanna Black, at bay, allowing no threes from the sharp-shooter, while the Owl defense also held Ohio to just 3-for-21 from long-range. Temple also held a 44-32 advantage on the glass, and recorded 11 total steals, forcing 15 Ohio turnovers. 
• Four players scored in double-figures for Temple, led by junior Feyonda Fitzgerald, who finished with 22 points and six assists. 
• Sophomore Alliya Butts added 18 points, while classmate Donnaizha Fountain notched her third-career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, also adding a career-high five steals. 
• Rounding out the Ohio highlights, sophomore Tanaya Atkinson had 13 points and seven rebounds and senior Erica Covile notched nine points and a team-best 14 boards. 
• For the season, four Owls average double-figures in scoring, led by All-Conference guards in Butts (15.2 ppg, 2.9 apg, 2.4 spg) and Fitzgerald (13.5 ppg, 5.3 apg). 
• Temple's other starting guards each average over nine points and six rebounds per game: Tanaya Atkinson (12.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg), Donnaizha Fountain (10.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg), Erica Covile (9.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg).
• As a team, Temple averages 70.0 points per outing, shooting 39.2% from the field, 29.2% from three, and 70.1% from the foul line. 
• Temple's lone senior, Erica Covile, will be making just a second career trip back to her home state of Michigan to play a college game. The guard played with Temple at Michigan State her freshman year. 

The Wolverines
• Michigan enters the game with a 20-13 overall mark, going 9-9 in the Big Ten regular season. 
• The Wolverines are making their seventh-straight post-season appearance, and have caught fire, averaging 84.7 points per game in WNIT wins over Wright State, Bucknell, and San Diego. 
• Michigan is coming off a wire-to-wire 78-51 win over San Diego in the third round of the tournament. 
• Katelynn Flaherty scored a game-high 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting against San Diego, while Hallie Thome turned in 16 points and seven rebounds, not missing a field goal in five attempts. Madison Ristovski also aided the offense, picking up 14 points.
• For the season, Michigan's offense is led by Katelynn Flaherty (22.4 ppg) and Hallie Thome (14.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg).
• Siera Thompson averages 9.3 points per game and leads the Wolverines with 171 total assists, setting a new program mark for helpers in a season. 
• As a team, Michigan averages 79.2 points per game, shooting 48.4% from the field, 40.2% from three, and 73.2% from the charity stripe. 

Temple vs. Michigan
• Temple and Michigan have met just once in program history, a 2005 neutral site game. 
• The Owls grabbed that win, 65-48, on November 11, 2005.
