4.19.16 | Women's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA – Junior captain Briana Odom has been selected to the 2016 Philadelphia Inquirer Women's At-Large Academic All-Area Team. The team honors 12 student-athletes from the Philadelphia metropolitan area who are voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 included institutions.

Odom is a junior psychology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.45. Temple's women's gymnastics team has placed team members on the team for four consecutive years. This year, Odom is joined by fellow Owls Demi Antipas and Jessica Hall of the fencing team and Hayley Hughes of Drexel University (squash) was named the Performer of the Year.

This season, Odom contributed on all four events and collecting four individual event titles, eventually earning the title of ECAC Co-Champion on floor exercise with a score of 9.825. At the conference championships, her gold-medal floor score helped her to a 39.05 all-around mark that placed second overall and currently ranks as the second-highest all-around score in program history. Odom was named ECAC Gymnast of the Week twice throughout 2016 and earned career-high scores on bars (9.8), floor (9.85) and all-around (39.05).
