Matthews Shoots 68 To Lead Cornell Spring South Florida Invitational

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla, - Senior Brandon Matthews recorded his third straight round of 68 to lead the Cornell Spring South Florida Invitational after the first round of play Saturday. Temple is tied for second place as a team at the 36-hole tournament, which concludes Sunday, is being held at the 7,050-yard, par-72 Fazio Course at PGA National.
The Owls shot a 10-over 298 as a team, tying Dartmouth for second place, 11 shots back of the leader Cornell (287).  Sophomore Mark Farley carded a three-over 75 to place second for the Cherry and White. He was followed by redshirt freshman John Barone (76) and  freshman Trey Wren (79).  Sam Soeth (82) rounded out the quintet while freshman Gary McCabe shot a two-under 70 playing as an individual and senior Liam Fahey carded an 81.
