Women's Rowing Varsity Eight Named American Boat of the Week

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team earned the program's first ever American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honor on Tuesday. The Owls' varsity eight earned the weekly award after sweeping a pair of races on Saturday.
The Temple varsity eight recorde two victories in rainy and cold weather on the Schuylkill River on Saturday. The Owls opened the day with race that went down to the wire, as Temple topped Bucknell in a tight race separated by just 1.01 seconds. Hours later, the cherry and white V8 made it two-for-two with a six second win over Duquesne.
The boat was made up of coxswain Kelsey Franks, and rowers, Kelly McGee, Emily Leyland, Lily Papaleo, Janie Augustyn, Emilie Mehler, Charlotte Forman, Ciara O'Sullivan, and Sarah Scanlin.
Temple will be back in action on Saturday racing at the 2016 Knecht Cup in Mercer, N.J.
