Matthews Tied for Sixth after Day Two of American Athletic Conference Championship

LECANTO, Fla. - Temple senior Brandon Matthews shot a two-over 74 for his second round at the American Athletic Conference Championship Monday to fall four shots off the lead and into a sixth-place tie with a one-under par 143.

USF's Chase Koepka and Houston's Vincent Martino lead the 45-player field with five-under 139s.  The Bulls hold a 12-stroke lead over East Carolina and Houston (579) with a nine-under 567.

As a team Temple moved up one spot to eighth place with a 607.   The Owls are 10 strokes ahead of Tulsa (617) and eight behind UConn (599).

Sophomore Mark Farley carded a two-over 74 Monday and sits in 23rd place with a 149.  Freshman Gary McCabe is tied for 38th overall with a 157 while freshman Trey Wren (158/41st) and redshirt freshman John Barone (161/t-42nd) rounded out the Owls' quintet.

The third and final round on the par-72, 7,025-yard Quarry Course will begin at 8 a.m. ET Tuesday.
