Blanca Fernandez Set for NCAA East Regional

PHILADELPHIA – Following a record-breaking performance at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, All-Conference selection Blanca Fernandez is set to compete in the 5000-meter semifinals at the NCAA East Regional Preliminary Championships on Saturday, May 28. By placing within the top 12, Fernandez will earn a trip to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
The women's 5000-meter race is set for 8:05 p.m. at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
At the conference championships, Fernandez set a new school, stadium and personal record in the event with a first-place time of 16:14.62 to collect her second gold medal of the day.
In 2015, Fernandez qualified for the NCAA Championship Semifinals in the 1500-meter run and fell just short of the finals with a 15th place finish overall.
