Men's Soccer Tops Monmouth in Final Exhibition Match

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Temple men's soccer wrapped up its preseason exhibition matches with a 2-1 victory over the Monmouth Hawks Friday evening. This marks the Owls' second win in preseason match ups as they look to start the regular season on August 26.
A goal in each half lifted the Owls to the win with Matt Mahoney dishing one to the back of the net off an assist from Jorge Gomez Sanchez in the first.
The Hawks answered and snuck one past goalkeeper Alex Cagle off a corner before letting in a second goal from Joonas Jokinen in the second half. Jokinen's goal was assisted by Mahoney, his second of preseason exhibitions.
Through both preseason matchups the Owls have posted three goals from three different Owls and allowed only one goal.
The regular season will open up on Friday, August 26 with a home match against Manhattan College at the new on-campus Temple Sports Complex. Friday's game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
