PHILADELPHIATyonna Williams, former stand-out player for the Temple women's basketball team, has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations, as announced by head coach Tonya Cardoza.

Williams earned a bachelor's degree from Temple in 2015 and spent the last year as a graduate manager within the program. She's working towards a graduate degree in liberal arts from Temple.

"I am thrilled to have Tyonna join the staff here at Temple," noted Cardoza. "She is a highly skilled and dedicated individual who also has an incredible work ethic. Tyonna's passion exudes through everything she does and I know she will bring the same passion she had as a player to this position."

In her new role, Williams will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including travel arrangements, practice operations, game day management, and overseeing Temple's extensive student-manager program.

A native of Fort Washington, Md., Williams finished her playing career at Temple as the program record holder for three pointers and free throw percentage, making 171 threes and connecting on 81.6% (230-282) from the charity stripe. The previous free throw percentage record stood for 27 years, with Williams breaking the mark of 81.4% set by Addie Jackson '88.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Coach Cardoza and Temple University has given me," said Williams. "Being able to earn my degree and start my career at Temple speaks volumes to the culture that Coach Cardoza has created within our program. I am eager to start my new role with the team and I am looking forward to the future."

As a senior, Williams led the Owls to a 20-win season and a spot in the WNIT Semifinals, where she was one of six players nationally to earn All-WNIT honors. She finished 17th on Temple's career scoring list with 1,075 points, and fourth on the all-time assists list with 397.
