ITHACA, N.Y. – Sporting a youthful and exuberant look, the Temple Golf will open its fall portion of its schedule this Saturday at the Cornell Invitational. The Owls will play in the 54-hole, 14-team, two-day event held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
"I am really excited about our team this year," said Temple Golf coach Brian Quinn, now in his 10th season at the helm. "We return five of our top six golfers from last year, all of whom are ready to step up the level of their play. We are also a really young team with a lot of energy which I believe will translate into great success down the road."
Sophomores Trey Wren and John Barone, both of whom played in all 25 rounds last season, are the Owls' top returnees. A native of Suffolk, Va., Wren averaged 75.5 strokes per round while Barone, who is in his third season after redshirting 2014-15, posted a 76.3 stroke average.
Junior Mark Farley and sophomore Sam Soeth also are back and bring with the stroke averages of 76.6 and 76.7, respectively. Redshirt freshman Erik Reisner and sophomore Gary McCabe round out the six Owls making the trip to Cornell.
Not travelling for Temple this week are lone senior Evan Notaro, junior Bobby Firth and freshman Phil Held, Marty McGuckin and Aaron Tobin.
The Cornell Invitational is the first of six events on the fall schedule which concludes with the City 6 Invitational held at Huntington Valley Country Club on November 5.
