News and Notes Following Temple's 34-27 Loss at Penn State…

The Temple defense allowed 403 yards from scrimmage on 61 plays. Having allowed three passes of 52-, 52- and 45-yards and a TD run of 55-yards, the Owls allowed more yards on those four plays (204) than on the other 57 plays combined (199).

The first half saw Penn State dominate in key statistics (21-10 score; 17:34-12:26 TOP; 43-25 offensive plays; 15-6 First Downs; 82-36 rushing yards; 2/6 – 0/4 Third down conversions). Temple played keep away in the second half with 19:01-10:59 TOP; 37-19 offensive plays; 3-9 – 0/3 third downs). In fact, Temple held Penn State to just 150 yards in the second half, but three big plays for a total of 152 yards (52 yards to Mike Gesicki, 45 to DaeSean Hamilton and 55 from Sequon Barkley) did the Owls in. The Nittany Lions' other 15 second half plays went for -2 yards.

Redshirt senior Praise Martin-Oguike forced a fumble in the 2nd quarter thwarting a Penn State drive inside Temple's 10-yard line. It was the ninth forced fumble of his career – the most in the NCAA among active players.

Senior RB Jahad Thomas returned to the lineup after missing the first two games of the season with a hand injury. He led the team in rushing (14-52-2TDs) and receiving (6-48). Thomas scored an 8-yard TD on his first touch of the season.

QB Phillip Walker completed 25 passes for 286 yards on 34 attempts for a completion percentage of 73.5. He also added a one-yard rushing TD.

Walker found nine different targets, including redshirt junior FB Nick Sharga and redshirt sophomore TE Chris Myarick for their first career receptions. Looking for a new trusted receiver after the graduation of Robby Anderson, Brandon Shippen and John Christopher, Walker also helped redshirt sophomore WR Brodrick Yancy to a career-high four catches for 31 yards, redshirt junior WR Keith Kirkwood to a career-best five receptions (57 yards), and redshirt senior TE Romond Deloatch to a career-long 67-yard catch.

Sophomore DB Delvon Randall picked off a pass for the second straight game. He also recovered an Alex Starzyk punt that bounced off a Penn State player at the 1-yard line. The Owls turned both of Randall's takeaways into touchdowns. On the season, Randall has three of Temple's seven takeaways.
