Team Effort has Golf in Seventh Place at Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge

QUECHEE, Vt, – Temple had three golfers card a two-over 74 and a fourth shoot a 75 in the opening round of the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge Saturday afternoon. The 15-team event is being held at the 6,671 par-four Lakeland Course at the Quechee Club.
Redshirt sophomore John Barone, junior Mark Farley and sophomore Sam Soeth were the Temple trio that shot a 74 to tie for 26th overall at the 84 golfer event while sophomore Trey Wren was one stroke back and tied for 33rd.
Sophomore Gary McCabe shot an 82 to round out the five-man squad while redshirt freshman Erik Reisner, playing as an individual, carded a round of 75.
Bill Walthouse of Rhode Island, Josh Goldberg of Penn and Ryan Allison of Colgate all carded four-under 68s to tie for the first round lead.
Rhode Island leads the event with a nine-under 279. Penn was seven strokes back (286) and in second place. The Quakers were followed by Harvard (287), Colgate (292), Columbia (292), Cornell (293), Temple (297), Hartford (298), Dartmouth (300), Brown (304), Siena (307), Fordham (311), Central Connecticut (314), Dartmouth B (317) and Holy Cross (320).
