Owls Head to New York Track and Field Hub for the Towson Tiger Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Temple track and field is set to compete at its first indoor meet of 2017 Saturday night at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory in New York. At the Towson Tiger Invitational, Temple will be among 18 other schools and on the lineup for 15 events.
Overall, the squad notched seven first-place titles and 20 top-10 finishes over 12 events in its first two meets. Freshmen Jazmyne Williams, Millie Howard, and Mariah Slade have taken great starts to their college careers so far. In her first collegiate meet, Slade topped the competition in the 200-meter race running a 26.27. Williams earned a top-10 finish with her fifth-place performance in her first collegiate 800-meter race. At the next meet, she bested a field of 28 runners in the 600-meter race to take first overall. In Howard's first mile race in the United States, she clocked a time of 4:55.30, topping another 28 participants.
Returning to the track on Saturday are distance runners Katie Leisher and Grace Moore, both of which had explosive cross country seasons. With the return of the distance squad, Temple hopes to increase its number of top-10 performances at the Towson Invitational.
