1.31.17 | Women's Gymnastics

DANBURY, Conn. – For the second consecutive week, Temple gymnastics freshman Daisy Todd has been named the ECAC Rookie of the Week. The honor comes after a historic weekend for Todd and the Owls, as the program set a new school record at West Virginia with a 193.625.

In the all-around, Todd improved her score once again by notching a 38.975 and setting season-highs on all four events. Facing nationally-ranked opponents at Sunday's meet, including #20 Maddie Karr of Denver, Todd was able to finish in third amongst the seven all-around performers, topping Karr amongst other top-ranked all-around gymnasts.

She grabbed a team-leading 9.825 on bars to post the highest score on the event of any Owl so far this season. The bar performance followed up a 9.775 on beam, a 9.75 on vault, and a 9.625 on floor.

Todd now ranks second in the conference in the all-around behind Brown's Caroline Morant with an average of 38.694 to Morant's 38.875. She also holds top-10 conference rankings on bars and beam.
In the region, Todd ranks ninth in the individual all-around group.

With the school record topped, the Owls now lead the ECAC as a team as they look towards their second home meet of the season. The annual Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 beginning at 1 p.m. The meet will feature regional rival Pitt along with West Chester and Ursinus.
