Golf Tied for 11th after First Day at Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Junior Sam Soeth had his best round as a Temple Owl, shooting a four-under 68 to help pace the Cherry and White on day one at the Firestone Invitational. Soeth, who was even par on his morning round, is tied for fifth overall with the Owls sitting in an 11th place tie among the 16 competing teams.
Keys to the Match
> Soeth had seven birdies and one eagle, that coming on the 18th in his second round.
> Junior Trey Wren was next for Temple, with a one-over 145 to tie for 12th overall among the 87 golfers.
> Playing among TU's top five for the first time, freshman Liam McGrath held his own. His one-under afternoon round of 71 pushed him to five-over (149) and tied for 35th.
> Freshman Dawson Anders (+18) struggled for the first time in his young career while redshirt sophomore John Barone (+21) was also off his game.
