Women's Tennis Performs Well at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Temple's women's tennis team competed in the Princeton Invitational this past weekend. The event included a number of singles and double matches that ran from Friday, Sept. 29 – Sunday, Oct. 1. The four teams in the event were Temple, Cornell, Princeton and Penn
Match Results
>On Friday in doubles,Yana Khon and Alice Patch defeated Molly Sandberg and Madison Stevens from Cornell, 6-3 and Mariko Iinuma and Priyanka Shah from Cornell defeated Alina Abdurakhimova and Oyku Boz , 6-0
>In singles on Friday vs. Princeton, Katrine Steffensen defeated Abdurakhimova 6-4, 6-4, Tiffany Chen defeated Khon , 6-1, 6-2, Clare McKee defeated Boz, 7-6(5), 6-4, and Nicole Kalhorn defeated Patch, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
>In doubles on Saturday, Chen and Kalhorn from Princeton defeated Abdurakhimova and Boz 7-6(3), Sara Goodwin and Steffensen from Princeton defeated Khon and Kristina Titova, 7-5 and both Ananya Dua and Michelle Wang from Cornell defeated Cecilia Castelli and Patch, 6-3.
>OJ Singh and Jennifer Richards from Penn defeated Abdurakhimova and Boz, 6-4 and Khon and Titova defeated Marta Kowalska and Nicole Berkman from Penn 6-0.
>In singles on Sunday, Marta Kowalska from Penn defeated Abdurakhimova, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1, OJ Singh from UPenn defeated Khon, 6-3, 7-5, Boz defeated Jennifer Richards from Penn, 6-3, 6-4 and Patch defeated Nicole Berkman from Penn, 6-2, 6-0.
Match Notes
> The Owls won four matches altogether over the weekend (two in doubles and two in singles).
>Patch was the only Owl to win two matches in the event (doubles on Friday and singles on Sunday).
>Khon now has 32 wins all-time in doubles matches.

"I am very pleased about what our girls did this weekend," said Temple head coach Steve Mauro." Princeton, Penn and Cornell are all really good teams. I think we need to work on our doubles play a little, but I am very encouraged about our team moving forward."
