Men’s Soccer Dispatches Tulsa on the Road, 3-1

PHILADELPHIA – In a key conference matchup, Temple (8-6-1, 3-2) earned a 3-1 victory over Tulsa (4-7-1, 1-4) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After allowing a goal just 80 seconds into the game, the Owls fortified their defense, and took advantage of their offensive opportunities the rest of the way.
 
Keys to the Match
> Tulsa struck first in the second minute of the match on Miguel Velasquez shot that was assisted by Rollie Rocha.
> The Owls didn't take long to answer back, as junior Hermann Doerner scored in the 11
th minute off of a great cross from senior Joonas Jokinen.
> In the 20th minute, freshman Alan Camacho Soto hustled to score Temple's second goal, off an assist from redshirt senior Mark Grasela, giving the Owls the lead.
> The Owls held that lead the rest of the way thanks to the stellar goalkeeping from sophomore Michael Samnik.
> With five minutes to go, sophomore Thibault Candia converted on a penalty kick, taking the stress off of the defense, and securing the 3-1 victory.
 
Match Notes
> For Tulsa, Velasquez scored his third goal of the year, while Rocha picked up his second assist.
> Doerner scored his second goal of the year to tie it up, with Jokinen snagging his first assist of the campaign.
> Scoring his fifth goal of the season, Camacho Soto continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the offensive third of the field. Grasela picked up his third assist of the season on the play.
> Samnik was huge in the Owls victory, corralling seven saves in the victory.
> Candia put the nail in the coffin for the Owls, scoring his sixth goal of the season on the penalty kick.

> Temple will stay on the road to face UCF next Saturday Oct. 28 with a 7 p.m. start time.
> Temple will host its last home game of the season on Saturday Nov. 4 vs. USF with a 7 p.m. start time. The Owls will honor their seven seniors prior to the match for Senior Day.
