Women's Tennis Finishes Play at ITA Regionals

PHILADELPHIA - Temple's women's tennis team competed in the 2017 ITA Northeast Regional this past weekend at UPenn. The event included singles and double matches that ran from Wednesday, Oct. 18 – Monday, Oct. 23. The Owls had four student-athletes participate in the event -- seniors Alina Abdurakhimova and Yana Khon, sophomore Kristina Titova, and freshman Oyku Boz.
Match Results
> Titova won two qualifying matches in singles over Army's Sasha Inchauste (7-6(2), 6-2) and Uconn's Summer Walker (6-3, 7-5).
> Abdurakhimova and Boz were victorious in a doubles match against Buffalo's Chantal Martinez Blanco and Lolade Ogungbesan (8-1).
> In single's action, Abdurakhimova received a bye in the first round before falling to Yale's Valerie Shklover in a tough three-setter (6-4, 1-6, 3-6).

"I am very pleased about what our girls did this weekend," said Temple head coach Steve Mauro. "I think we need to work on our doubles play a little, but I am very encouraged about our team moving forward."
